Recently, the Skytrax World Airline Awards, the “Oscar” of world aviation, recognized the LATAM Airlines group as the best airline in South America. The voting took into account the opinion of more than 13.4 million passengers worldwide . In addition, the company was also awarded the “COVID-19 Aeronautical Excellence Award” for all the safety and hygiene measures it took during the pandemic.
The Skytrax survey had been conducted for almost 2 years (23 months, September 2019 to July 2021). This year's awards represent the results of trips made both during the normal period, before the pandemic, and during the global health crisis.
“This recognition encourages and challenges us to continue working hard on behalf of our customers. I appreciate the commitment of our employees in difficult times such as those we have been experiencing, as well as the preference of passengers who chose LATAM to take their dreams to their destination”, says Paulo Miranda, vice-president of Customers at LATAM Airlines Group, in a text from the Aeroin website.
The entire LATAM Group has reinforced its biosafety measures since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, strictly following all the recommendations of the WHO (World Health Organization), IATA (International Air Transport Association) and health authorities in each of the countries in which it operates. In addition to recognition, LATAM received Skytrax's highest safety and health rating. Also, APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association), together with the specialized website SimpliFlying, named the group in the “Diamond” category, the highest in the APEX Health Safety standard.
