CPTM advances in the extension of lines 11 and 13 to Barra Funda.

“Terminal station: Palmeiras-Barra Funda”. This will be the audio that we, users of the São Paulo subway system, will hear when CPTM (Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos) fulfills one of its main projects: the extension of lines 11-Coral and 13-Jade to the intermodal stop. With the idea already in motion, the company provides not only the free transfer of the two lines that already operate at the station (lines 3-Red of the Metro, 710 of CPTM and 8-Diamante of ViaMobilidade), as well as with the municipal buses and the Bus Terminal, but also the creation of a new integration between the three most demanding stations of its network.

Currently, the works are focused on adapting the stretch between Luz and Barra Funda, a process that includes the modernization of the permanent way and the aerial network. The deadline for delivery of the new stretch, according to an article on the Metrô/CPTM ​​website, is until the end of 2024. Recently, the president of CPTM, Pedro Moro, published, on his social networks, new photos of the extension works. In the images, it is possible to notice that, while a team of collaborators focuses on dismantling the current permanent track, which has already been worn out by time and is unsuitable for the operation of the trains, another team performs the services of replacing the catenary system (air network).

Regarding the permanent way, the name given to the system of rails, sleepers and support components, the renovation is very cautious. In the stretch, there is a set of five lanes that will undergo improvements. We highlight the company's care for the site's infrastructure, replacing the old wooden sleepers with new ones, made of concrete, and installing new rails. In addition, more modern AMV's (Trail Change Devices) will be installed, increasing the efficiency of train traffic in the region.
