Mendes – Vila Natal Station, on CPTM line 9 – Emerald, has its opening hours extended.

Recently, the Governor of the State of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), used his social networks to notify that, as of today, the Mendes – Vila Natal/Bruno Covas station will have its opening hours extended. The station now has an extra hour of operation, operating from 10 am to 2 pm.

It is worth remembering that the Mendes – Vila Natal/Bruno Covas station was inaugurated recently, and that, therefore, it is in assisted operation. At this time, it is common for the stop or line that has just been opened to the public to have a shorter operating period than the rest of the system. This is because this is the phase in which the new service is tested with passengers, during commercial operation.

Full time until January

On August 10 of this year, the Government of the State of São Paulo inaugurated the Mendes – Vila Natal station, on line 9 – Emerald, putting an end to a waiting period of exactly 10 years for the people in the extreme of the South Zone of the state capital. The station was named Bruno Covas, in honor of the mayor of São Paulo, Bruno Covas, who died this year, victim of a tumor.

During the delivery of a newly recovered tampon train to CPTM, held on September 23, the Secretary of Transport, Alexandre Baldy, together with the president of the state-owned company, Pedro Moro, gave an interview to websites and blogs specialized in urban mobility and transports. Asked about the extension of the opening hours of the Mendes station, the secretary replied that he hopes to extend this hours until 2022.

“We are executing the second stretch of that work, the Varginha station. Continuously, the commitment here at CPTM, through Pedro Moro, from the team, so that we can complement with the signaling system that is necessary, between Bruno Covas station and Varginha station, so that this operation can be increasingly expansive , taking into account its integrality, and that until the month of January we believe that there will be a constant evolution.” – said the head of the STM (Secretary of Metropolitan Transport).
