Recently, the São Paulo-Campinas TIC (InterCities Train) project gained another important point in its favor: according to the Via Trólebus website, the ANTT (National Land Transport Agency) approved the Public Hearing Report No. 7/2019, which deals with the extension of the concession period with MRS Logistics.
It’s worth knowing, however, that the approval of the renovation of the railroad concession contract with the federal government is still pending. This renovation foresees the construction of about 56 km of rails exclusive to freighter transport, which will enable express passenger transport in the already existing stretch between the Barra Funda neighborhood, in the center of São Paulo, and the city of Campinas, passing through Jundiaí.
In this renovation, six yards are also planned for the operation, as well as the reconstruction of the Caieiras station and two tunnels in Botujuru, which adds up to an additional 2 km.
As published by Via Trólebus, the expectation of the STM (Secretariat of Metropolitan Transport) is to launch the TIC tender, together with the concession of the 7-Rubi line (it’s not defined whether the 10-Turquoise line will enter this concession, which puts in Check the continuity of Service 710) between the end of the current year and the beginning of next year.
