Following the model of some foreign companies in its segment, such as United Airlines, Gol Airlines has given a deadline for its employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. After this period, any employee who doesn’t comply will be dismissed, without the right to compensation, for non-compliance with the company's internal policies.
The company had already warned that it would make vaccination against COVID mandatory for its employees, but it had not yet voiced, at any time, the issue of dismissal for just cause. By way of information, this is the type of dismissal in which the employee is not entitled to unemployment insurance, prior notice, withdrawal of FGTS, 40% fine and proportional payment of vacation and 13th salary.
This decision had already been endorsed, in February of the current year, by the Public Ministry of Labor, in an attempt to make the vaccination of all company employees mandatory. Now, the President of Gol, Paulo Kakinoff, in an interview given to the website O Antagonista, confirmed the just cause as a means for the dismissal of those who don’t get immunized against COVID-19.
According to the Aeroin website, there are exceptions for those people who, according to the recommendations of the manufacturers of immunization agents and medical authorities, cannot take the vaccine. These will continue to work with the airline, but with the condition that they prove their exceptional situation.
It is important to remember, for those who can get vaccinated, the importance of vaccination: No vaccine cures you of a disease much less protects you completely against the virus that causes it. On the contrary, this is a function of other types of pharmaceutical products, such as antibiotics, serums and the like, none of which have been proven to be effective against COVID. The function of vaccines is to “train” our body so that it can better fight certain types of viruses. So, if you want to return to normal life with the certainty that you, your family and your friends are protected against Coronavirus, GET YOU VACCINATED!
