It seems that the aviation market is giving the A380 a "second chance". According to news published by the Aeroin website, which is specialized in aviation, the flag airline of the United Kingdom, British Airways, is the next to reincorporate the giant four-engine jumbo jet into its network.
British is one of the companies that, going against the grain of some competitors, such as Lufthansa, has not given up or disposed of its A380s, having just stockpiled them (grounded). Now, the company is the third to reinsert these planes into its flights. That's because, like its predecessors in this idea, British saw enough growth in international demand to justify the giant's return to the skies.
One of the companies that, before the British, returned to operating an A380 was the Japanese ANA (All Nippon Airways), which resumed some flights to Hawaii with its famous turtle-painted superjumbo. Another was Singapore Airlines, which began removing some of its copies from stock in Australia and taking them to Singapore, in addition to having the model replaced in its reservation system.
Now, the most recent confirmation came from England. According to Aeroin, this was already an expected move by British, but until then, it had no date forecast.
In early August, British announced the renewal of the contract for the maintenance of 12 A380 aircraft, confirming that it would have them ready for any time it made sense to resume their operation.
Finally, internal information from the company itself, which the Head of Points website had access to, show that the imposing double-decker planes already have destinations and dates for return to operation foreseen for the next two months.
So far, the official UK airline's planning is that, from November 8th, the model will be used on short flights from London to Frankfurt and Madrid, with the aim of re-adapting crews after almost 1 year and half without operating the air giant. However, these plans are not certain, being subject to changes depending on market demand.
Then, as announced by the Aeroin website, continuing with the company's current plans, the perspective is that the A380 will start flying to Miami from December 3rd, Dubai from December 5th, Dallas from the 7th December and Los Angeles from the 9th.
