Recently, the Metrô (The Subway Company of the brazilian state of São Paulo) announced, through its social networks, that it’s preparing the Tucuruvi station, North terminal of Line 1-Blue, to receive platform doors, which are nothing new in the state's subway system. It’s worth remembering that this preparation is part of an already known safety project from the company, and that, of the four stops included in this project, Jabaquara, south terminal of line 1, is the most advanced, as the process of assembly of equipment has already been completed.

According to the Metrô’s post, and an article published yesterday (11/24) by the Via Trólebus portal, which is specialized in urban mobility and transport, the company has started preparing the Tucuruvi station platforms from end to end to receive the large safety doors. At the current stage, concrete slabs are being installed and holes are being made for the supporting pillars of the equipment. “We had the installation of temporary concrete slabs and holes for the assembly of small pillars that will serve as structural reinforcement”, said the company on Twitter.

The Via Trólebus post also states that the installation of the doors at the end stations of line 3-Red is planned for next year. By mentioning the names of lines 1 and 3 in the same post, the portal makes reference to the project in which the Tucuruvi station is included: installing platform doors in the terminals of the two branches.

New for Metro line 1, platform doors already operate on other company lines, such as lines 4-Yellow and 15-Silver. This equipment serves to prevent the accidental fall of passengers onto the train path, thus reducing the risk of both accidents and unwanted interference in the normal operation of the system. The only bad thing about them for us, train lovers, is that they don't allow us to see the compositions so well (laughs).
